NAIDOC Week in school holidays

25 June 2015

NAIDOC Week starts next Sunday 5 July. NAIDOC Week is a time to celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander history, culture and achievements, and an opportunity to recognise the contributions Indigenous Australians make to our country and society.

There are many ways your family can celebrate NAIDOC Week:

  • Listening to Indigenous musicians or watch a movie about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander history.
  • Creating your own Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander art.
  • Visiting local Indigenous sites of significance or interest.
  • Learning the meanings of local or national Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander place names and words.
  • Hosting a community BBQ or luncheon.
