We are excited and proud to report that Bridge Road Kindergarten has won the 2021 Victorian Multicultural Award for Excellence in Education in the Early Childhood Education category.  Nominated Supervisor Deborah Muir and Area Manager Kathleen Hillier attended Government House on 8 December to accept the award.

The Victorian Multicultural Commission’s awards recognise the outstanding achievements of people and organisations who strengthen multiculturalism across multiple categories. Bridge Road Kindergarten uses a family-centred approach to develop innovative practices that support settlement outcomes for newly arrived Victorians from migrant and refugee backgrounds.

They seek to increase educator knowledge, break down barriers of engagement between families and educators and increase the capacity and confidence of educators to make appropriate referrals.

Bridge Road Kindergarten has also implemented several programs to support the local community, including building a translated resource library and providing emergency food, clothing and materials for home learning. In January 2020, the Bridge Road Kindergarten Community Table supported almost 300 families by donating resources to families so they could attend the kindergarten program.

A big congratulations to Deb and her Bridge Road Kindergarten staff on their fabulous work supporting their community.
