"We feel so incredibly fortunate to have our son at Newport Gardens. He is cared for by such a beautiful group of caregivers, all who have made special connections with our boy, who take the time to know him, to share with him, teach him, help him grow and share this with us. Our son has a very special connection with a carer he has been lucky enough to share a room with for 2.5 years. This connection is special for so many reasons. But all of them come back to the fact that David is an exceptional caregiver and a beautiful person. We are isolated from family in VIC and as such, the only people who have ever cared for our son are ECMS NGEYC staff. This means that the role of NGEYC has been a critical support for our family and critical for development and social growth for our son. David has nurtured his shy personality and encouraged confidence, he celebrates his strengths and achievements, provides challenges and sets boundaries where they are needed. When I ask my son who loves him, David is always in the list. We have bears and fish and dolls called David (our boy is quick to give the name David to anything he thinks is special) and when we do something around the home there is often a 'I will tell David’ or a ‘David has one of these’ in the conversation. David’s positive influence extends outside the walls of childcare. When our boy goes to childcare talking about bugs, next thing we know there is bug learning going on, or tools, or plants etc etc. It is so comforting to know that our child feels so well connected in his childcare environment. Everyone should be so lucky to have a David in their child’s life:)" Parent

Play is the best way for children to learn. That's why at Newport Gardens Early Years Centre, your child's learning program will incorporate a variety of open-ended and structured play-based experiences. Experiences will be guided by your child's interests and capabilities, ensuring your child gets the most out of their childcare experience.

Activities will include:

  • language and literature
  • music and movement
  • art and craft
  • dramatic play
  • science and maths
  • sensory motor activities
  • cooking and healthy eating
  • activities to promote physical coordination
  • incursions and excursions.

These play-based experiences will help your child develop important social, emotional, physical, language and cognitive skills.

All our childcare programs are based on the National Early Years Learning Framework “Belonging, Being and Becoming” and the Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework.

Your child’s early education program will be delivered by Newport Gardens Early Years Centre's experienced, passionate and nurturing teachers, who are led by a full-time Educational Leader. Our educators are wholly committed to ensuring each child receives the best possible childcare experience.

Educators will work in partnership with you – your child’s most important teacher – to develop a childcare program that reflects and builds on your child’s interests, curiosities and skills.

Educators will share live updates about your child’s learning via Storypark - a secure, login-based ePortfolio. Documentation may include photographs, videos, learning stories, and samples of your child’s work. Storypark will also allow you to contribute to and comment on what your child is doing while in care. You can share your family activities and your child’s updates with educators via Storypark too.

If your child has additional needs, our educators will work with you to ensure your child gets the most out of their early learning experience. Our educators can also connect your family with specialist support if needed.
