At Clayton South Kindergarten, we believe play is the most important and valuable way to learn. Our play-based program is developed around children’s emerging interests and abilities. It is based on planned and spontaneous play experiences, enabling children to explore, experiment, investigate and examine.

Our experienced and caring educators incorporate the five learning outcomes as listed in the early learning years developmental framework into our program. They focus on developing children’s skills and enhancing their overall development in a safe, fun-filled learning environment. We focus on building children’s independence skills, confidence and self-esteem, their self-discipline, consideration of others, and communication skills.

We provide opportunities for learning language and literacy by providing experiences that promote discussions, through books, drawing and writing and games that include letters and numbers. We encourage children’s creativity through drama, puppets and discussions about numerous topic and concepts. The children in our kindergarten community have various language experiences and these activities assist with language development and learning English, so children can express their own experiences in their multicultural home and social settings in their home language and English.

Clayton South Kindergarten has been rated as Exceeding National Quality Standard. Information about the National Quality Standard.

Meet our educators

The teaching team at Clayton South Kindergarten comes with many years of experience in the early childhood education field.

We enjoy working collaboratively, sharing program ideas and supporting each other to create exciting and innovative programs for children. Some of our educators are bilingual. Others have significant experience working with children with additional needs.

We believe children learn when being given the opportunities to explore, investigate, experiment and engage in play. We enjoy providing opportunities for children to invent the play themselves and support their ideas to extend their play. Our ultimate hope is that children leave us with a love of learning and the confidence to explore, experiment and achieve!
