Resources for PAGs

Families are encouraged and actively supported to contribute to their child's early learning experience in a variety of ways. You may like to be a family helper on a regular, occasional or ad hoc basis. You might also consider being part of the service’s parent activity group (PAG), which is an exciting way for parents to contribute to their child’s early learning service.

Unlike a traditional committee of management, a PAG doesn’t have any service management responsibility. ECMS takes care of this. A PAG builds meaningful connections between parents, educators and the local community.

Every PAG is different. Each community shapes their group to suit their context, interests, available time, specialised expertise, cultural preferences, and needs. PAGs are based on four key principles/purposes:

Making things happen

PAGs coordinate community events and ensure all families in the service are given an opportunity to be involved in the life of the kindergarten/childcare community.

Helping families belong

PAGs find creative ways to help families feel like they belong and feel a part of the kindergarten/childcare community.

Giving families a voice

PAGs represent families and their opinions and communicating these to the service and to ECMS.

Doing it your way

PAGs use innovative approaches and focus on local strengths and interests.
