Werribee West children’s day at the museum

28 October 2016

The children from Werribee West Family Centre enjoyed a fun-filled day at the Melbourne Museum on Wednesday 26 October. The excursion coincided with Romp & Stomp Fun Day for Children, which is held at the museum each year during Children’s Week.

Children visited ECMS’ Romp & Stomp stand where they could make colourful fish, birds, and frogs. They then explored the museum, learning about dinosaurs, animals, bug and butterflies. After sitting down for a delicious picnic lunch, children looked at Phar Lap, the Aboriginal area and walked through the rain forest, before taking part in more Romp & Stomp activities.

After such a busy day and a big journey, many of the children had a nap on the bus ride home!

Children’s highlights of the day included:

“Butterflies, dinosaurs, pasting googly eyes” - Corki

“Shark, whale and the fire engine” - Adrian

“Dinosaurs, waterfall in the cave thing, the necklace the ECMS gave us (lanyard)” - Zack

Romp & Stomp Fun Day for Children is an annual Children’s Week event which celebrates the value of early education, play-based experiences, and diversity in early childhood development. ECMS participates in Romp & Stomp each year, along with other not-for-profit organisations.
