Thank you and farewell from our interim CEO, Dr Judith Slocombe

29 March 2018

Today is my final day with ECMS. It has been a great privilege to spend the last seven months at ECMS getting to know so many talented educators and support staff and wonderful children and families.

I came to the organisation with a limited perspective of early childhood education and care, and have found a sector that is much more nuanced and complex than can be appreciated externally. It is a sector filled with people dedicated to and passionate about children having the best education and care possible, and nowhere is this more apparent than at ECMS.

I’d like to thank all our families for choosing ECMS for your child’s early learning journey. And as a parent and grandmother, I want to thank our incredible staff for their hard work and commitment to our children. I feel confident that the children at ECMS are in the best of hands as they are guided through their early years and prepared for the future.

Introducing ECMS' new CEO, Kim Bertino

I leave ECMS in the capable hands of new CEO, Kim Bertino.

Kim comes to ECMS with a depth of experience in the early childhood sector. Kim began her career in the classroom in Melbourne and was quickly promoted to Centre Director. She has been working in NSW since the mid-1990s where she has worked in children’s services in both local government and the not for profit sector.

Over the last eight years, Kim has held executive positions with KU Children’s Services in Sydney. In addition to her work at KU, Kim has had extensive engagement with the early childhood sector nationally, which means she’ll be well-placed to support ECMS’ continued advocacy work.

Kim is looking forward to seeing ECMS’ wonderful work in action and leading our team to support children and families to realise their potential.

Wishing your family a safe and happy Easter break.

Kind regards,

Judith Slocombe
