National Children’s Week celebrations

Brookside Kindergarten
To celebrate National Children’s Week, Brookside Kindergarten children went on an excursion to the Caroline Chisholm Society's Children's Party.
 
The children enjoyed a reptile show, story time and free play, along with face painting by Lulu the fairy.
 
It was a great day out. It has also strengthened the kinder’s partnership with the Caroline Chisholm Society, which helps women and their families to achieve a safe and nurturing environment for their children.
 
 
Delta Road Kindergarten
Delta Road Kindergarten children, families and educators celebrated National Children’s Week with an adventure to Diamond Valley Miniature Trains in Eltham. 
 
Children enjoyed a bus trip, delicious picnic lunch and the time to explore and play at the Eltham Copper Butterfly playground before their exciting ride on the miniature train.

Mossfiel Children’s Centre
Mossfiel Children’s Centre children learnt about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural values and traditions from True Culture’s Mitch and Ian. They dressed up as their favourite character one day and in their PJs another day had a visit from some friendly farm animals and shared a delicious BBQ lunch.
 
The children participating in all the activities and learnt so much throughout the week.
 


Celebrating Diwali – the Hindu festival of lights

Mossfiel Children’s Centre
To celebrate Diwali, Mossfiel Children’s Centre children and educators dressed in traditional Hindu clothes and made Rangoli decorations using coloured powder and sand. Children were also treated to an amazing Bollywood dance performance where they learnt lots of new Bollywood dance moves.
 
 
MRCC
MRCC celebrated Diwali by making candle holders, painting and dressing up in traditional costumes. The highlight of the day was a visit from Bollywood dancers who showed children, families and educators a special dance set to Indian music. Afterwards, everyone had the chance to practice their new moves!
 
The celebrations have been a fantastic way for children to learn about different cultures and traditions, to use their creativity and imagination, to connect with new families and lots more.
 

 

Bridge Road Kindergarten’s community adventure 

Bridge Road Kindergarten children and families recently enjoyed exploring their local community in the lovely sunshine. The children practised road safety and protocol and foraged for natural materials for their artwork.
 
The children can’t wait for their next adventure.
 
 

Indigenous singing and dancing at MRCC

MRCC (Maribyrnong River Children's Centre) enjoyed a special performance from Ryka Ali recently.
 
Ryka’s performance included Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander songs and dances, animal sounds and body painting.
 
The interactive and engaging incursion was a fantastic way for children to learn about Indigenous culture first-hand.
 
 

The dentist visits Werribee West Family Centre

Mina, the Dentist, from Mobile School Dentist, visited Werribee West Family Centre last week to teach children about the importance of brushing their teeth and healthy eating.
 
After this, the children had a check-up to see how their teeth are growing. They also learnt how all the dental tools work. The children had a great time and were so brave during their check-ups.
 

Didgeridoos and diversity at Watts Street Children’s Centre 

Watts Street Children’s Centre recently enjoyed learning all about Aboriginal culture, arts, crafts, bush tucker, music and more during a special visit from Didgeridoo Australia. Children even learnt how to play Didgeridoos!
 
The incursion reflected Watts Street’s commitment to educating children about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture and people and celebrating diversity.
 

Halloween celebrations at MRCC

MRCC children and educators dressed up for their Halloween Party celebrations. The event, which was also attended by families, included a costume parade and lots of fun activities.
