ECMS kindergarten staff on new employment agreement

29 August 2016

In June ECMS announced that all kindergarten staff were transitioning to a new employment agreement, the Victorian Early Childhood Teachers and Educators Agreement (VECTEA). The agreement, voted in by Victorian educators in April, recognises the vital work of early childhood educators. It addresses three key areas identified during discussions:

  1. Educator salaries

  2. Workloads

  3. Workplace flexibility

It also brings early childhood educators’s salaries to parity with the primary school sector.

Following ratification by the Fair Work Commission, ECMS has now transitioned 400 staff across to the new agreement and applied the increased pay rates accordingly. Staff employed under the VECTEA were also eligible to receive significant back pay from August 2015.

ECMS is committed to ensuring our employees are valued and equipped to provide the highest quality early childhood education and care to all children in our services.
