Mossfiel Children’s Centre’s community connection

28 January 2016

On Wednesday 20 January the children at Mossfiel Children's Centre had some very special guests arrive from Wyndham City Council to educate the curious children about the roadworks happening outside their centre.

The Council Officers arrived armed with mini safety vests and hard hats for each child. They briefed the children on what was happening at the roadworks site and the importance of staying together and listening to instructions.

One by one the children marched out to the site and watched and squealed as the loud machinery put on a display of tipping, digging and scraping.

Back in the centre the children had the opportunity to ask the officers about the different machinery before they were presented with a small gift.

This excursion is a great example of strong community partnerships and contributes to positive learning outcomes for the children, linked to the Early Years Learning Framework:

Outcome 2: Children are connected with and contribute to their world

Outcome 4: Children are confident and involved learners
