Term 1 school holiday activities

30 March 2015

Looking for activities to do with your children for the March/April school holidays? Here are a few of the child-friendly activities happening around Melbourne over the Autumn break.

School Holidays at the NGV

The NGV presents a range of specially designed artist programs and projects for children and families over the holiday period. Visit the Gallery to discover the creativity behind fashion and Australian car design! Various costs apply.

Scarecrow Making – Fed Square Pop Up Patch

The pop-up rooftop veggie garden at Federation Square, Pop Up Patch, is holding scarecrow-making workshops over the school holidays. Frame, twine, straw and other necessary scarecrow materials are provided in the cost of $15.

Animals at the Melbourne Star

During the first week of school holidays a super-sized animal farm will be visiting the Melbourne Star Observation Wheel. There’ll be a calf, pony, alpaca, lambs, goats and more, plus a free sticker or balloon for all kids when they leave the Barnyard. The Easter Bunny will also be making a visit on Eater Saturday and Sunday. During the second week of the holidays children can meet a range of reptiles! Normal admission rates apply.

Kids Day Out festival

On Good Friday the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre will be transformed into a wonderland for kids, with a giant roller-skating rink, laser skirmish, sports clinics, the popular teddy bear hospital, cooking classes for kids, rides, music, dancing and much more. This is a free event, but any donations given will go towards the Good Friday Appeal.
