Welcoming family involvement
The Black Rock Pre-School community is a friendly, dedicated and supportive group that takes pride in:
- children’s learning and social development
- attraction and retention of a superb educating team, and
- the first-rate maintenance of buildings and grounds.
Families are encouraged to participate in your child's kinder sessions through volunteer duty (the children love it when mum, dad or a grandparent comes to help!) and regular Working Bees. The Kinder has a wonderful tradition of family and friends visiting to showcase hobbies, cultural festivals, talents, or simply provide an insight into the lives of different people. Families also enjoy the very popular Mother’s Day and Father’s Day activities, as well as a special get-together at the end of the year.
Black Rock also encourages parent involvement on the volunteer Committee, with the familiar roles of President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer. It is also important to foster friendships between children and parents alike, so co-ordinators for the different Kinder groups, fundraising, enrolments, and communications make running the Kinder a real team effort! These social networks and friendships can last right through your child's Primary and High School journeys.
As well as Kinder-session based events such as Book Week, birthdays and the End of Year Concert led by the educators, the Committee organises a Welcome event at the start of the year to meet all the new families, a fundraising evening, pre-school gift ideas, and social get-togethers throughout the year (with or without the children!)
