Parental involvement at Altona West
There are many different ways to become involved at the kindergarten.
- Parent help during the regular kindergarten session. This can involve supervising an activity, reading a story, meeting your child's friends and teachers. This is also a great time to enjoy some time with your own child at kinder.
- The Committee of Management is made up of kindergarten parents who undertake responsibilities of fundraising, planning, maintenance and community liaison.
- Special skills such as playing a musical instrument, speaking another language, cooking with lots of help or the like are always welcome at kinder and can be incorporated into the regular program.
- Celebrations are always enjoyed at kinder. Whether it is a birthday or a cultural celebration, talk to our teachers about how your family celebration can be celebrated at kinder.
- We also require the assistance of parents with working bees, feeding the animals and tending the garden over the holidays.
We aim for parents to:
- Feel welcome and comfortable in the kindergarten environment.
- Feel comfortable approaching kindergarten staff.
- Have confidence in both the staff and the kindergarten program.
- Be actively involved in, and support their children’s development.
- To be actively involved with the centre and the kindergarten program.
