Our philosophy

Werribee West Family Centre will ensure that the care environment is reflective of home life, is flexible, safe, nurturing and conscious of aspects of the community and cultural differences. We will promote anti bias and gender equity throughout the program in all ages.

As early childhood educators, we will interact with children in a positive manner, providing opportunity to foster development and allow children to realise their own potentials, while also supporting children in developing a positive self esteem with emphasis on self worth, this is encouraged by focus on the child’s independence and self help skills.

We believe children, parents and staff need to be respected, valued, feel happy and have a high level of self esteem. We aim to provide a warm, safe, caring, secure and welcoming environment for each child, to compliment the family unit.

We welcome all families irrespective of their race, colour, creed, socioeconomics, environment, and physical attributes. We embrace their differences and incorporate these into out programs where ever possible.

We value and respect staff individuality, knowledge, qualifications, experience and encourage professional’s growth and positive team cooperation.

Staff aim to be positive role models, to guide behaviour by example and interact with children in a way which encourages learning as a pleasant experience.

Our aim is to provide children’s programs that meet the needs of individual children, their families and the community. We plan and implement age/stage appropriate experiences which aim to foster development and are interest based. We aim to provide opportunities for children with additional needs to be intergraded into the program.

The staff team work collaboratively and facilitate programs based on the beliefs:

  • Process is more important than product

  • That children learn by doing

  • That each child is unique and their creativity should be encouraged

  • That each child’s and family has individual needs

  • That the environment is set up based on the individual children and the group’s interest.
